abstract="{Diatomite is formed from the microscopic skeletons of diatoms that are deposited on the bottom of freshwater and marine aquatic environments. Diatomite has a very high porosity, which is a result of the microscopic structure of the diatoms. As a result, it has a large specific surface area. Because of its porosity, diatomite is commonly used in filtration, especially in the food industry (e.g. for clarifying beer or juice). Diatomite can serve as a catalyst carrier in chemical processes. It is used to remove pollutants from water and to rehabilitate degraded areas. When added to soil, it improves its structure, especially in clay soils. Diatomite, thanks to its unique
structure and properties, has found wide application in various fields, from the food industry to environmental protection. This paper presents instrumental studies for diatomite using the following methods: XRD, SEM/EDX, XRF and FT‑IR, which allowed
to obtain its full morphological characterization.}",
