Abstract

EN Most people, upon hearing the word forgiveness, automatically associate it with a religious concept. However, forgiveness appears to be one of many natural mechanisms for repairing relationships. It has, therefore, become the subject of interest in individual, group, couple, and family therapies, becoming an important factor in preventing the escalation of problems that could lead to the breakdown of relationships. the process of forgiveness has been depicted as a supportive element for those professionally engaged in helping individuals who struggle to resolve personal problems, conflicts, and feelings of helplessness. Polish and German students were asked about their understanding of the mechanisms and structure of forgiveness to discern their acceptance or lack thereof in incorporating the process of forgiveness in relationship repair and solving social issues.
