Abstract

PL The article analyzes lexemes labeled as “hunting” in the online Great Dictionary of the Polish Language. These terms describe activities, tools, and other realities specific to hunting, primarily used by hunters in their community interactions. The research material comprised 179 lexical units. Using the theory of language fields to present the research material allowed for its comparison with hunting vocabulary gathered in a specialized dictionary and with the sociolect used in a literary work. The examination of the sociolectal vocabulary collected in the WSJP (Great Dictionary of the Polish Language) illustrates, on one hand, the linguistic resources used in hunters’ community communication, and on the other hand, shows the incorporation of elements from specialized language into contemporary colloquial Polish.
