Streszczenie

EN This research aims to produce Activated Carbon (AC) from Groundnut Shells (GS) and Rice Husk (RH) for the efficient removal of MO from water. The research initiates with meticulous preparation of GS and RH, involving cleansing and drying them to remove impurities. Subsequent carbonization of the blend lays a foundation for an effective adsorbent. Activation with Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) enhances material porosity, boosting adsorptive properties. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analysis of the sample pre- and post-adsorption was conducted. Adsorption studies on MO examined the concentration, dosage, temperature, pH, and contact time. Langmuir, Freundlich, and Temkin isotherm models were also utilized for broader analysis. Findings show that the presence or appearance of bonds such as N=N, C–N, O–H, and O–H stretching signals indicates adsorption taking place on the surface of the GS-RH material. It was also discovered that the optimal removal conditions were pH 6, 35℃ temperature, 90 min contact time, and 0.9g adsorbent dosage. There is a higher adsorption affinity at lower concentrations of MO on GS-RH. Comparing the R² values obtained by finding their isotherm parameters shows that the Temkin description has the highest correlation with the experimental data among others. In the literature, GS is less employed due to its low silica content (1–3 wt.%) compared to 80 wt.% in RH. Their composite still performs below expectation compared to the single use of RH, as the amount of silica is automatically reduced.
