Abstract

EN The aim of this article is to explore the relationships between preschool children’s direct contact with nature and the development of their creativity and musical imagination within early childhood education. children are able to engage with their surroundings in a direct, active, and meaningful manner. The preschool years represent a developmental period particularly conducive to the emergence and enhancement of creativity. Children at this stage are characterised by spontaneity, openness to new experiences, and an inherent need for creative expression. Creativity manifests itself through various forms of activity, including play, movement, drawing, and musical engagement. The aim of this article is to highlight the importance of contact with nature for the development of creativity and musical imagination in preschool children. The reflections presented are also informed by drawings created by children following experiences involving listening to the sounds of nature. The analysis of these artworks indicates that exposure to natural soundscapes fosters creative expression and stimulates children’s imagination. Musical activities may involve singing and composing songs inspired by nature, playing musical instruments, listening to music, movement activities accompanied by music, as well as creating musical scores and musical narrativesThe paper discusses the role of engagement with natural environments, such as walks in outdoor settings, in enhancing children’s motivation to participate actively in music activities inspired by nature. Particular attention is given to activities involving the imitation of environmental sounds and the use of natural materials to construct simple musical instruments. Such practices strengthen the educational impact of music education and foster the development of imagination, creative expression, and children’s sensory sensitivity. Encounters with music and nature have a positive impact on a child’s developmental well-being
