Abstract

EN The paper presents the application of an ant lion meta-heuristic algorithm to optimize the parameters of the water-abrasive cutting process of white marble. The properties of target and abrasive materials were described. Details of the ant lion behavior that the optimization algorithm was inspired by are also provided. Both the high-pressure abrasive jet material cutting technology and the details of the ant lion algorithm are also described. Based on the control parameters of the process of marble cutting by AWJ, the cost function was determined using the response surface method (RSM). For the ant lion algorithm, the process of optimization of control parameters was conducted for the objective function to reach the minimum value. Based on the optimization the by ant lion method, a set of control parameters and the achieved extremes were determined and compared with laboratory results. Details of the quality of the surface cut under optimal conditions along with roughness parameters are also presented
